Alps Ski Resorts Versus Global Warming
IOL: Summer time and living is easy in the Alps: "Geneva - Global warming may be affecting the winter ski season in the Swiss, French and Italian Alps, but resorts are seeking to compensate by developing a range of activities to attract summer tourists.
Simon Bumann, the tourism director for the Saas-Fe region said that although there is sufficient snow on its 3 000- to 4 000-metre peaks, the resort area is concerned enough about climate change to develop an intensive summer programme."
The "Writing" Is On The Slopes...
If you're in Europe, the snow remains sufficient but reality speaks loudly to ski resorts operators in the Alps region.
Yes, much of the problem is under governmental controls but learn more of what you can do as an individual. Avoid contributing to the ongoing problems our earth sustains. Let us each strive to keep pristine snow and untainted water.
We can go with the flow or seek and support resolution actions. In the form of sun over-exposure, declining water purity and degeneration through lack of quality outdoor activities... Well... eventually, our health and personal well being is ultimately at stake.
The average American, for the most part, is a foolish consumer. Knowing he is a slave to the lifestyle that "spells" trouble for earth, he goes with the flow... reading the "writing" but not knowing where to begin the personal change.
Perhaps a Google search might help... but, that takes time and effort... besides, he has to get in the SUV, wait in a traffic jam and go make more money for the rising gas prices.
Just a thought about the "writing" on the slopes as reported by the Alps resorts.
